How do you get Outstanding Outcomes for Homework?
One of the key findings from Ofsted inspections show time and time again the impact, consistency, clarity and routines have on students. Our readers are made up largely of senior leaders and middle managers, so this won’t be ground breaking information in the first instance but what I’m about to tell you will certainly help you improve homework and get support from parents. As an...

Are you responsible for IT at school? Where will...
When I joined Henry Compton school as the E-learning Director, one of my first jobs was to roll out Fronter, the London Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) of choice, and get everyone engaged to use it. Now there is no denying that Fronter is packed full of features, but Fronter is just one example of software and technology recommended to teachers by government officials and consultants who have...

Where is my child's homework?
Does this sound familar?
This was a question I was often asked at Parents’ Evening. It’s natural, parents really want to know when homework is set so they can ensure the homework gets done and they can join in with their child’s school life.
If a child is going through a parent-rejection stage, that child may well not want to co-operate and so may give no or misleading...

93% Success - Well Done Year 11
I’ve been meaning to share the success we have had at Henry Compton via a blog post but have not had a chance to get around to it sooner, so here goes! This year results for BTEC ICT have jumped to 93% from 89% last year. I am really happy and my team have worked super hard! We continue to raise the bar every year. The End of BECTA? Good News? Quite Possibly...
I’ve been meaning to put my thoughts on this for the last week now, just haven’t had a chance to get round to it. The new government have decided to shut BECTA. Is this is a good idea? bad idea? should they have done this sooner? Personally I think so. When I found out the annual budget was over £100 million + I was shocked and surprised. I’ve been teaching for the last 3-4 years...

Have you ever forgot to collect homework?
I’ll be the first one to admit, I’ve forgotten to collect homework in the past. One of the neat things Show My Homework does, is send you a morning email reminder to let you know you have homework to collect for each of your classes. For me this really helps as I’m sure like many of you, there are lots of other things going on and it’s quite easy to forget.

I can't find my subject...
Over the past few hours, I’ve had some users let me know about subjects missing from the subject field when posting new homework. If there is any subject missing, drop me an email at help@Showmyhomework.co.uk and I’ll do my best to add it to the list asap.
Why can’t I add my own subjects?
For the moment, I want to control the quality of subjects we have in Show My Homework, as...

What does Beta mean?
It’s worth pointing out that Show My Homework is still in public Beta. That essentially means we’re still adding the final touches and tweaking it before we can really say, this is the final thing. I normally think of it as a Ferrari that is close to coming out of the factory with just a few things to do like polish it off and add the legendary badge :-).
