How do you get Outstanding Outcomes for Homework?

One of the key findings from Ofsted inspections show time and time again the impact, consistency, clarity and routines have on students.

Our readers are made up largely of senior leaders and middle managers, so  this won’t be ground breaking information in the first instance but what I’m about to tell you will certainly help you improve homework and get support from parents.

As an aspiring leader myself, I know the difficulties we share of embedding new new policies, processes and tools. It’s certainly not easy within a school but do this right, the benefits can be incredible for your colleagues and for the learning experience students receive.

My tool, Show My Homework is being embedded into school policies as a must have for the provision of homework for over 33,000 students. If homework is important to your school and you want to improve it or get it to work the way you want to, it needs to be consistent,  tracked and monitored across the school. Can you do that right now? More often than not the honest answer is ‘No’. Its ‘No’ because its difficult, painstakingly time intensive and requires a lot of effort. This leads to situations where students can get away with not doing homework, teachers can get away with not setting it and opens the door for parents to complain at Parent evening about the lack of homework.

I’m really passionate about introducing classroom tools that work for me and work for my colleagues who teach, day-in, day-out.

If you’d like to find out more about Show My Homework, please read Horndean Technology College’s Case Study or visit http://www.showmyhomework.co.uk

If you find this post of genuine interest and would like to explore options to put in place consistency, clarity and routines with homework, please get in touch.

I know together we can make an immediate impact.

Nothing Like Twitter for Teachers

I have to admit, when I first signed up to Twitter, I was not expecting how

useful or amazing it would turn out to be! Twitter has allowed me to introduce http://www.showmyhomework.co.uk to hundreds of new teachers from around the world.
Before Twitter, I was getting disheartened trying to reach out to teachers about Show My Homework. I tried calling schools, leaving voice messages, writing letters, sending emails, sending CD’s etc. I’m no marketer so, I may have been doing it all wrong but honestly, I was struggling to find teachers that were willing to try something new…
However, Twitter for educators is just another world! -  I find myself amazed and excited to connect with so many inspiring, positive, make-it-happen teachers from around the world. I have discovered so many new resources from my new found network of people.
Thank you to my followers and thank you to Twitter. Well done @Biz & @Jack

Have you ever forgot to collect homework?

I’ll be the first one to admit, I’ve forgotten to collect homework in the past. One of the neat things Show My Homework does, is send you a morning email reminder to let you know you have homework  to collect for each of your classes. For me this really helps as I’m sure like many of you, there are lots of other things going on and it’s quite easy to forget.

Hi Naimish,

Here’s a quick reminder of the Homework you need to collect today:

I can’t find my subject…

Over the past few hours, I’ve had some users let me know about subjects missing from the subject field when posting new homework. If there is any subject missing, drop me an email at help@Showmyhomework.co.uk and I’ll do my best to add it to the list asap.

Why can’t I add my own subjects?

For the moment, I want to control the quality of subjects we have in Show My Homework, as I’m afraid, we’ll end up with subjects with spelling mistakes and inconsistent with existing subjects. Honestly, the easiest thing right now will be to drop me a quick email and I’ll make it happen for you!

Happy Posting and enjoy the remaining few hours of your Easter school break!

PS Remember you can post your school GCSE exam schedule right now on Show My Homework. Make it easy for the Year 11 students! Watch the how to video

What does Beta mean?

It’s worth pointing out that Show My Homework is still in public Beta. That essentially means we’re still adding the final touches and tweaking it before we can really say, this is the final thing. I normally think of it as a Ferrari that is close to coming out of the factory with just a few things to do like polish it off and add the legendary badge :-).

We’ve just launched in Beta with a new look!

Welcome to the Show My Homework Blog. My name is Naimish Gohil and I am delighted to be writing our first blog post! I’ve been working on Show My Homework over the last 9 months. It’s been a thrilling ride so far and it’s about to get even more exciting as more and more people start to discover Show My Homework.

I’m actually a teacher working full-time at Henry Compton School in West London. I created Show My Homework from my own experiences. If you’d like to read a little bit more about me, please check out my short bio on the About Us page.

In a couple of lines, Show My Homework makes it easy for teachers to post homework questions, attach worksheets and set deadline. For students, they get to see all their homework on one page. For Parents, they can keep track of all their child’s homework.

I’m working on a number of new features all the time working hard to ensure they are useful and important to the Show My Homework community.

Recently I added a new feature to let teachers add class tests and national exams. I guess perfect timing, considering GCSE exams are just around the corner…

Happy Homework posting!

Naimish Gohil
