I’ve been meaning to put my thoughts on this for the last week now, just haven’t had a chance to get round to it. The new government have decided to shut BECTA. Is this is a good idea? bad idea? should they have done this sooner? Personally I think so. When I found out the annual budget was over £100 million + I was shocked and surprised. I’ve been teaching for the last 3-4 years now and I’ve never come in touch with BECTA once. At a strategic level, they may have helped the larger players get massive contracts but for teachers at the ground level, I can’t see what they have done. To spank that much money is absurd on an annual basis. I may be completely wrong but these are my thoughts, opinion and experiences with them. What do you think? Has BECTA helped you?
